About IGC & NCS

Inspire Guide Change (IGC) is a provider of the National Citizen Service (NCS) in Cambridge, an exciting opportunity for 15 to 17 year-olds. With over 275,000 young people already graduated it is now your turn to get involved in this exciting experience. Whether you sign up individually or as a group you will be sure to  make lots of new friends.

With over 5 years’ experience delivering the NCS opportunity we are proud of the programme we have developed and the amazing team that will lead you through this experience. Our staff are friendly, fun and supportive!

Phase one involves you staying away from home at one of the approved outdoor activity centres. Here you will take on new challenges and meet lots of amazing new people. Think of it as a summer holiday away from home with friends! You’ll be placed into a group of 12 – 15 incredible people who will become your team for the duration of the programme.

No matter what your ability or fears there are a range of activities for everyone. These can include: problem solving, caving, go-karting, zip wiring, abseiling, hiking and archery. There are plenty more activities for everyone that will keep you busy and engaged over the week.

One of our most talked about phases!

Phase two is your opportunity to explore and discover something new within the community. You’ll come back together with your group in a camping styled/ environment. You will be provided a bus pass for the week, a budget for food, your schedule and a map! You’ll develop life skills like confidence, leadership and communication to boost your CV or UCAS personal statement.

With connections to over 20 charities and organisations there will certainly be a number of new experiences for you to engage with.

You have built your team, made new friends, experienced new things and learnt about your local area. Now it’s time to make your mark! The final stages is where NCS really comes together. All your fun and motivation from the last two weeks means you are ready for plan and deliver your own social action project.

Here are some of our previous social action projects:

  •  Raised over £1000 for Emmaus by sleeping rough
  • Organised an Unplugged concert at The Junction raising over £800 for Red Balloon
  • Hiked up Scafell Pike mountain to raise money and awareness for Winter Comfort
  • Ski-Dived from 13,000 feet for Blue Cross

It’s time to celebrate your journey and share your experiences with friends and family. You deserve to enjoy a well-deserved reward for doing something amazing! At the end of your NCS experience, you’ll become part the NCS family. This should only be the beginning and will get access to other opportunities and apprenticeships as well as some awesome discounts and big events!
